Is still producing some steelhead and walleye. Try small spoons, crank baits and flies. Orange and chartreuse were good colors.
Anglers continue to take good numbers of steelhead and walleye. They are using spoons, crank baits and flies.
Was a hot spot for walleye. Steelhead are still present in the river and in the local streams as the run is not through yet but it will start winding down as water temperatures rise and the fish prepare to spawn.
Steelhead were caught up near Tippy Dam. High water levels make fishing a little more difficult.
Has steelhead however it appears the run will be more drawn out this year as we wait for a good spring push. Water temperatures were not getting out of the 30's so fish the deeper holes.
More anglers are turning their attention to steelhead fishing. The better action was near the mouth. Water temperatures are still on the cold side so anglers were fishing the deeper holes.
Steelhead fishing is in a bit of a holding pattern right now. Plenty of fish around, but water temperatures are cold and water levels are back down to normal. The next thaw should really get it fired up!
The Big Man ia currently still cold. 37 degrees and has both its Winter fish and a fair amount of Spring Steelies. The fish seem to be spread out between the Mouth and Tippy Dam. Float fishing with Spawn has been good. Concentrate on the soft current seams, Spring Steelhead do not like the fast water until temperatures rise. The best fly patterns have been clown eggs, nuke eggs and hex nymps. The Manistee is behind schedule due to the cold temperature and should peak about the 3rd week in April and last well into May.
Steelhead fishing was decent. Bright chrome fish have been caught in the deeper holes.
Look for fresh steelhead after the rain and snowmelt.
Steelhead fishing has been decent, but not great since the 1st of the year. We have to put time in in order to do well at this time of the year, the afternoons have been better. Fresh Fish will normally enter the Lower River during any type of snowmelt or rise in water levels. We have a few fish trickling into the system. Our Spring Fish should be in the system by Mid March. Small Nymphs, Egg Flies, Spawn Bags and Plugs will continue to produce fish throughout the Winter Months.
Big Manistee River: Is fishable and should have a fair to good number of steelhead including some fresh fish. Many are fly fishing below Tippy Dam.
Little Manistee River: Is producing steelhead and the occasional brown trout however the river will close to fishing on January 1st and will reopen on April 1st.

Is producing more steelhead and should continue through the week. Chrome colored fish are being caught mainly on streamers in both the Little Manistee and the Big Manistee Rivers. Anglers are reminded that the Little Manistee River closes to fishing on December 31st and will reopen on April 1st.
Low, clear water is hampering steelhead fishing. Needless to say, the better fishing will be in the deeper holes or in the lower river. Try drifting or floating spawn or flies.
